REVIVING SUMMER FOR A CONNECTED GENERATION

Summer is peak season for telcos. The brief was simple: own the moment. But rather than outshine the competition with just another big-budget TVC, Vodacom wanted to do something different. Something that lived inside culture, not just above it.

We needed to shift perception from brand advertiser to cultural driver. That meant reimagining summer. We set out to make the v more than just a logo. We made it a language. A gesture. A soundtrack. A symbol of a summer that was proudly local, playful, and powered by tech.

Turning a Letter into a Movement

We started with the insight that summer in Mzansi isn’t just a season, it’s a vibe. And the letter “V” was already vibing in everyday language. So we built a campaign that turned “V” into the connective tissue of the entire summer.

A gamified film kicked things off. Every frame packed with hidden vs, cultural references, and familiar faces like Uncle Vinny and Vinny da vinci. We didn’t stop there. We created an official “VVV” sound vibration and worked with emerging artists to build a homegrown summer anthem.

WE DIDN’T JUST SHOW UP. WE V’D UP

This campaign didn’t just ride the wave of summer culture. It became the wave. By turning a single letter into a full-blown movement, Vodacom claimed ownership of summer in a way that felt fresh, youthful, and proudly local.

From screens to streets, playlists to timelines, we transformed the v into a living, moving part of the season. We didn’t follow summer convention. We rewrote it.
